Poem

Man and Horse stand 'pon a hill
Stirring not, as the rocks so still
Neither Fame nor Reward does He seek
Only to defend the Innocent and Weak
Ever fighting those who fear Gods light
Feeling not wounds nor cold of night
Scarred and grey, fair of face no longer
Strife only serves to make him stronger
Knowing one day to a blade he must fall
He prays one such as he will follow the Call

Standing by a friend pt. 2

Shame on you Two ,you know who you are so no names will be mentioned, you Abandoned your "Friend" in the moment she needed your support the most, makes this Cowboy wonder if you are her friends.
One of you claimed you were with her 'Till the End' in very poetic terms, but now you need to 'Discover' your 'true self', well I hope you do find your 'true self ' but I have a suspicion you wont like what you see in the mirror when you do. One of you just pays 'lip service' to our talented soul but your 'Ostrich' approach to life doesnt work in this situation but I dont think your head is in the sand..its stuck somewhere else.
Our friend gives both of you the 'benifit of the doubt' but as this Cowboy sees it you both are unworthy of her Friendship and Love. BOTH OF YOU NEED TO STEP UP OR STEP OFF.
Just remember the story of the little red hen you two.

Last of the Wild Horses

Something disgusting is occurring in the great (?) state of Nevada, the systematic roundup of Wild Horses, some will say they are not wild but feral but that is not the case.
These animals have been roaming a good portion of the west for close to 500 years, since the days of the Conquistador, but now the BLM in its infinite wisdom has decreed that there is not enough feed on the open range for them to survive. In all honesty(that's a concept lost on the BLM) its about making money from cattle grazed on public lands,I'm not talking about family ranches but cow/calf outfits (corporate ranching) you see they pay next to nothing to fatten the cattle on public land, all so someone can sell and buy a 99 cent hamburger.
Everywhere they have removed the Wild Horse  not long after it is opened up for Grazing lease, i suppose cattle can eat anything, but  the corporate cattlemen were the ones who complained to the BLM that they were competing with the Wild Horse for the grass
it is typical Washington double dealing, these Wild Horses are held in huge pens in the northern part of our state or shipped to other holding facilities out of state, these once proud and free animals are being condemned to a life of misery, but hold on, this is what will really happen to them once they are no longer adoptable they will be sold for SLAUGHTER because they will be deemed a 'burden' on the taxpayer(just like the politicians) and to convince us it is a good thing they will tell us that at least we recovered taxpayers money(so they can bail out more banks or other leeches) so enjoy your hamburger John Q. Public it only cost you 99 cents, don't give a second thought to what the real cost is, the death of our Heritage and countless Wild Horses.

Standing by a Friend

Someone who means a whole lot to this Cowboy has been having a difficult week, filled with emotional ups and downs. She has realized her dream of being a published author(the Talent is there by the way) and as should be she asked her friends for support, so far, at least to this Cowboys way of thinking, not many have been there for her, but come on folks you have all read her writings and you know she has a gift.
The lack of enthusiasm has really taken me by surprise, how can you  call yourself 'Friend' and not promote or at the very least dig a dollar out of your pocket to buy her works, you all sing high praise for her but like the old saying goes 'Actions speak louder than words'.
I know not to many read my posts but again I ask, how can you call yourselves Friend to this talented soul??

And if you don't know her, her name is Nadina Boun and you can get her works,' Earth and Venus' and 'The thinking man, paralysis by Analysis,on Amazon, just a dollar folks, check it out you wont be disappointed.

Poor little pup

I saw something today that was so heart rending and shameful, a poor thrown away dog living under a delivery van in front of a business.
He was obviously emaciated, ribs and hips were showing and the shame of it was nobody but nobody took the time to try and help this innocent animal, the people going into the store nor the employees, one employee asked me to call animal control,I asked him why and his reply was basically ' its a stray, who needs it' he knew they would kill the dog after three days and I  told him 'not a chance mister'.
I tried to get him into my car I could see he wanted to go but he was so scared of people, so I gave him my lunch and as he was gulping the food down I heard someone say 'great now the damn dog wont leave'. I had to go to work elsewise I would probably still be there trying to coax him out from under the van.
My Question is what does it cost anyone to help a stray, a little time, a little food, is that so much to ask. Are you truely that cold and callous Las Vegas, you cant even help the very essence of unrestrained, unconditional Love?
I am truly ashamed of the city I call home.
(yes im going back tonight to try and rescue that pup)

Changes(to serious to be taken seriously pt. 2)

Changes occur everyday, some are small and hardly noticed, other changes have a profound effect.
I was profoundly effected today, as I told you, I have been taking care of my ex-wife for ten years, but I was informed that she would rather stay with our daughter.
I was assulted by contridicting emotions, guilt relief sadness joy, one right after the other and occasionally at the same time.
My Daughter, one of the lights in my life, said I should not to feel guilty or feel I have failed in my promise, but it is a strange feeling not needing to rush home and realizing that all I have to do now is take care of myself my dogs and my horses.

Time

Man was walking with Dog one day
and asked aloud 'what time is it I wonder'
Dog stopped and looked at Man
'Oh you think you know? you're only a dog'
Dog just kept looking at Man
'Ok dog, tell me what time it is'
Dog replies 'NOW'

To Serious to be taken Seriously

Before I start, I would like to thank a good friend for suggesting I write about this, I only hope I can convey
the feelings and emotions as well as you can Gypsy.

I have been caring for my ex-wife for around ten years now, she has alzheimers disease.
Some people ask 'She's your ex-wife, why take care of someone who doesnt love you'
the answer is nobody else will and a promise was made.
She has been on medication for eight years but it is not a cure it only slows the progression
and honestly it doesnt do that well.
Its tough watching someone you know  fade away knowing that they are aware of whats going on.
this is where my sense of humor comes in, it helps to laugh at the situation.
Whats to laugh at? Like I said its to serious to be taken seriously.
Some of these posts will tickle your funny bone and some will scare you but hopefully it will help whoever reads this.

Little Victories

After the 'news' told me that the world is going to hell on an icy road again, a thought occurred to me as I watched my chicks hatch out this evening, that by looking to the small everyday things, a friends smile or laugh, a sunset or sunrise, a good horse, the miracle of life itself and weigh it against the turmoil at the end of the day  and see how lucky you really are.

It doesn't matter who you love
or how you love
only that you love........

Promises

I met a friend for coffee the other day and as always the conversation was good and the company was excellent, during the normal ebb and flow of talk we brought up the subject of promises, how both of us had made a promise before truly knowing what the cost would be.
After lamenting what had been lost, for one a stroll through heaven and the other a jaunt through hell,we then  concluded that the old saying is absolutely right......no matter how good your intentions are be careful about what you promise.
We tend to forget about the cost, whether a promise is kept or broken.
